Frontwave Credit Union

A member-owned, not-for-profit credit union founded in 1952, serving 125,000+ members in Southern California with consumer banking and digital banking technology.

Frontwave Credit Union is a not-for-profit, member-owned credit union founded in 1952 to serve military personnel, veterans, their families and the wider communities of Southern California. It began with eight members and $40 in assets and now serves more than 125,000 members, manages $1.8 billion in assets and operates 18 branches across San Diego, Riverside, San Bernardino and Imperial counties. Its origins lie at Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton near Oceanside, California, and its membership retains a strong military connection.

The credit union provides consumer banking solutions - accounts, loans and related financial services - developed to improve members' quality of life through service and technology. Technical work spans financial technology, digital banking technology and consumer financial services technology, reflecting the credit union's stated emphasis on innovative technology alongside customer service. As a member-owned institution, it is accountable to its members rather than outside shareholders.

Internally, staff are known as "Dream Makers", and the organisation describes its mission as building dreams and strengthening communities. It has been voted San Diego's Best Credit Union for three consecutive years and maintains community partnerships with local organisations such as the Oceanside Chamber of Commerce. Industry verticals include banking, credit unions, financial services and military and defence community services.
