DPR Construction
Employee-owned, self-performing general contractor building complex technical projects in advanced technology, healthcare, life sciences, higher education and commercial markets.
DPR Construction is a self-performing, negotiating general contractor that builds highly complex and technical projects across the advanced technology, healthcare, higher education, life sciences and commercial markets. Founded in 1990 by three construction veterans - Doug Woods, Peter Nosler and Ron Davidowski, whose initials give the firm its name - it began with 11 professionals and $750,000 in pooled founder resources. It now operates nationwide in the United States as a multi-billion-dollar organisation and consistently ranks among the top 50 general contractors in the country.
Rather than acting as a commodity contractor, DPR negotiates its work and performs much of it directly, with an emphasis on technical project delivery in demanding environments. Its stated approach treats construction as a service business built on great teams, great projects and great relationships.
The company is employee-owned. Its stated purpose, articulated in 1992 with Jim Collins, then a Stanford professor, is "We Exist to Build Great Things."® Core values are Integrity, Enjoyment, Uniqueness and Ever Forward, the last of which reflects a stated ethos of continuous improvement in an industry the firm describes as traditionally resistant to change.
